I told you I'd refresh the page. Promise kept.
Well, at least the what wont be as long as Jontrons videos....
Actually, the more I think about it, this show really reminds me of Lost. You got a bunch of survivors in an unfamiliar environment using scraps of technology to survive, all while avoiding a semi-mysterious threat. The writing style is similar (overly dramatic, laughable conflict), but that could be attributed to the television format. Then characters die or form love triangles, the fans argue, and nerd-analysis arises. People over-analyze the messages and the social commentary, making it hard to view the series as what it was intended to be; a character study. I'm all for nitpicking when it's warranted, but sometimes it seems that people look too deeply into what is essentially an emotionally-driven drama. The Walking Dead will possibly follow the Lost phenomenon by gradually swapping the loyal fans for those who don't get why the series was good to begin with. I've heard too many people talking about how The Walking Dead deserves merit solely because of the fact that it is a zombie apocalypse themed show, just like many people praised Lost for being an intelligent metaphor. In my opinion, Lost used obvious symbolism to support the emotional thesis of each episode. Simply using a philosopher's name in dialogue does not make a show smart. If anything, it makes it sound dumb because it is alluding to something in a vague manner. Essentially, the audience says, "I don't know what this imagery means, so it must be intelligent". On the other hand, fans of The Walking Dead will talk about the zombie apocalypse themes rather than the love that was put into season one. Thus, they become blind to the atrocities of AMC.
I know jontrons barely updates but he just made a new Halloween vid and he saaaid he was gonna have the other one soon
I love you
I was always under the impression that Glen Mazzara only began leading the development during the second half of season 2. Before that Frank Darabont still lead the development of the first half of season 2. Most of the first half was already filmed before they even announced Glen Mazzara was replacing frank Darabont.
A few sources say that the season premiere was supposed to be the idea that Sam Witwer was mentioning in this review. Also, in this video Glenn Mazzara mentions how he screwed up the season premiere at 3:25 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XawQsUiAJc0It says here that Darabont was supposed to write the Season premiere http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_(season_2)#Productionbut the actual episode credits list Ardeth Bey and Robert Kirkman instead. It's difficult to tell how much he was responsible for and how much got remade after he got fired, but regardless it's still AMC's fault for forcing the crew into pulling 13 episodes instead of the 6 that were planned. It's possible that a lot of the conflict arose because he was unable to stretch out the source material to their liking and maintain quality.
I totally agree with you that AMC crippled the show to the terrible drivel that is season 2. My point is more so that Glen and Frank had to write the early episodes together. With Frank as the show runner and after having all his plans shitted on, had to come up with something and and left after struggling with the network to get to execute on any of his plans and Glen who was already a writer on the show had to try to work in a mess he was given.
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/52526The articles don't really mention whether the ideas were lost because of the budget cuts or his firing, so it's possible I'm confused on the causality of it, but I find it strange that he's not in any of the behind-the-scenes footage for even the early episodes of season 2.
I would say its because he already left before those things aired and they simply cut him out of it. He was definitely involved in the early parts of season 2 because before comi-con they posted a behind the scenes blog with him. http://blogs.amctv.com/the-walking-dead/2011/06/frank-darabont-interview/
Thanks. I wrote that in my notes now and I'll be sure to mention it in part 3.
I didn't notice a decrease in quality at all. I love the music you play in your videos! Keep up the good work.
Wonderful! Thank you!
I know... :)
lol the pantheon bar soundtrack was perfect for the barn scene
In an interview, I believe they said that the cut grass wasn't their fault. They had told the area they were shooting in to not cut their grass, as they were filming this type of show and it would knock things off, but some did it anyway.
Is this Blip, or another videoplayer? The video keeps pausing for me.
I completely agree with this episode of YMS. The show's drama is so invented and non-organic that by the end of the third season I was completely fed up.Looking forward to what you think about S4, since so far it seems like it's redeeming itself a bit.
Blip kicked him off their site(I'm guessing because he doesn't release content frequently like the popular people on it). The new site he's hosting these videos on is Springboard, maybe try and uncheck HD at the bottom, that might be causing the problem.
My internet sucks and I cant tell when the video is loading. Also it restarts when I try to go fullscreen.I miss blip.
That was great =p
seriously, this video player sucks for me
There is not much more Adam can do, what is wrong with it?
WHy are the farmhands training with guns if they don`t believe in killing Zombies?
loading sucks (could just be my internet), I cant tell which bar is the video and which is how far it's loaded, it restarts when you go fullscreen, and there isn't a quality bar
Didn't hallucination of Merle explain some things about Daryl's past? That seems kinda like something the guy was complaining about not happening earlier and then he complained about happening?
3:07 was that a captain beefheart reference, or am i just crazy?
I've watched this like twelve times. I'm never going to stop. Ever
I always look forward to your videos. Awesome work man, keep it up!
These videos are the best part about The Walking Dead.
Springboard works perfectly, apart from a small pause when going in and out of fullscreen.
This was pretty amazing:) Thanks for uploading and putting so much time and effort into your reviews!
Oh man, every time you show Andrea put that scope right up to her eye I fucking cringe. Seriously, she was like resting the scope against the bridge of her nose. What the fuck. hahaha also, I am quite disappointed upon hearing what Darabont had actually planned for the season.
It doesn't restart for me...
In the comments of Part 1, I said I like Seasons 1 & 2 a lot.Well, the arguments you bring in this part make sense. Too much sense.
holy shit dude please never NEVERRR stop making these videoes because they are the best shit so funny hhow you make the actors/director seem stupid with their own words in the interviews and the mario sounds rofl, but at the same time keeping it real
Aww yea proleteR. Very nice
i was just wondering if anyone know the budget for season 3 and 4 and will you be making a "yourmoviessucks" for those seasons?
if you ever stop making these ill rape your dead body
Lol...I watched part one the day it was released. I got mad that part 2 wasn't immediately available. It was certainly worth the wait. I remember at the end of season two...I turned and said to my wife "um....so was that just like 2 episodes turned into a season? wtf?"
well I would love to agree that no group of people would contest the well contamination issue. I think you have neglected to mention that these characters are not just from America, but from Georgia... Totally possible.
Firstly, your reviews are great. When I found your channel I watched probably every video that night and now I cant wait for your next reviews to come out every time. You really are spot on with these, and catch a lot of things I didn't. Especially when it came to The Walking Dead! I still watch it and didn't really mind Season 2 too much, (but i'm probably going to rewatch it after watch your reviews!) but then Season 3 came along... I really am so keen to see what you have to say about it cause I sure had a lot to say! So many episodes that could've been made into 1 (half decent) episode. Specifically when Rick and the Governor go meet in that room and arguing about nothing for the entire episode and come to no conclusion at the end of it. OR the episode when Andrea tries escaping from the town, takes her the entire episode to reach the jail then suddenly NUP SHES BACK AT THE TOWN. All the episode accomplished was that Andreas tied up now.... Season 4 looks like it's picking up a bit though (THINGS ARE ACTUALLY HAPPENING?!!?!??!) Anyways, sorry for the long paragraph, your video inspired me to have a bit of a rant! Kepp making videos, can't wait for Part 3! :D
Ugh, really should have proof read this before pressing enter but oh well.
Actually it looks like it'll be in part 4 instead.
Lost is one of my favorite TV Show, and while i don't agree with almost nothing that you said about the show, i get what your point is, because its exactly my thoughts on The Walking Dead. People think that it is smart because of all the discussion and dialogue between the characters, and think that they're dealing with some heavy dilema and moral stuff, but actually its full of lazy and stupid writing. And i get that you people really hate Lost for some reason, but i dont get why comparing it to TWD. I think its insulting actually. Yeah there was a lot of dumb ass moments and episodes, plot holes, sometimes lazy writing and a bad structured ending, but yet had memorable characters, relationships between them, great episodes, soundtrack and amazing moments. Yeah it was full of symbolism, but it wasn't just some "philosopher's name reference" as you say, but some great mythology aspects and characters development. It was full of references, but it was never about this. The show was about this people having to forget they past and move on together, and i think that he really accomplished that, on its on way.But i agree, people was really looking too much into LOST, they were really seeing it as something too deep. But unlike you say, it was not even close to the retarded mess that is The Walking Dead. Lost had a lot of greats elements in it, especially the characters, unlike TWD.
Don't get me wrong, I like Lost. It's one of my favourite tv shows, but yeah, the fans are a little too analytical.
I totally agree, this is like perfect.
With that bit where it showed the Walking Dead quiz bit and those 3 people all got Dale, I decided to go take that quiz too, and it turns out I'm Rick XD
